Recycling Initiatives

Post Office Recycling

Since 2002, Jackson Community Recycling (JCR) has offered magazine and catalog recycling at the Pearl Street, Maple Way and Wilson Post Offices. JCR has offered recycling at Teton Village Post Office since 2005.

Approximately 23% of the 603 tons of magazines and catalogs recycled annually in Jackson Hole have been recycle at these four post offices.

Since July of 2009, all paper recyclables, including magazines, catalogs, newspaper, and junk mail are collected at the Maple Way Post Office, making recycling even more convenient for patrons of Maple Way. JCR thanks Tammy Halstead, Maple Way Postmaster, and custodial staff at the Maple Way Post Office, for their support and cooperation with collecting paper recyclables at that location.

Textile Recycling

JCR collects the textiles that local thrift stores are unable to sell. Clothes that are unfit for reuse can come directly to the Recycling Center. Textiles received will be sent to Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Salt Lake City, Utah. At Big Brothers, Big Sisters clothes are either redistributed to various thrift stores or recycled into rags.
